January's Teacher of the Month
by Michaya Victor
Mr. Mooney is the January teacher of the month, but he is also the STAR teacher. (Congratulations to Alyssa Walker-Porter for being the STAR student) Mr. Kevin Mooney is loved by many of his students for his limpid teaching style. He shows his love for history daily and invites his students to develop an interest in the subject. Mr. Mooney says that he enjoys building relationships with his students and creating an environment where they feel safe and can relax.
Mr. Mooney has been teaching for twelve years. Nine of those years he spent teaching at Tucker. Before he began teaching at Tucker, Mr. Mooney taught middle school in Clayton County. He says that his love of history and the desire to help future generations made him interested in pursuing a teaching career. He tries his best to make his classroom a place where his students can relax but also learn and be challenged. Mr. Mooney strives to inspire his students and to provide them with a quality education as his teachers did him.
When Mr. Mooney is not teaching, he enjoys going to sporting events, hanging out with his friends, or anything that involves being on the water. He loves eating Chinese food or anything covered in buffalo sauce. He also enjoys spending time with his dog; a Belgian Malinois named Flynn.
